I have seen some pics on this site about bull trout on the peace river and tributaries, I would love some info on these beasts. I have only ever got into some smaller ones and want a big one like crazy, maybe even obsessed with it. I don't mind if its in BC, I buy a licences there as well. thanks for the help in advance.

My Profile pic is a 5.5lb. Bull in the Grande Prairie area. My boat record last fall was 7.5lb. Lots of them out there but if you really want Bull, hit up the Murray River near TR. You can float it and catch Grayling/Bull to your hearts content. Water levels and clairity do play a facter though.

Hello Tatonka,
There are large Bulls in the Wapiti !!. Right under the bridge at magoos landing I pulled in a Bull about 2 - 3 lbs (modest estimate) . I fished for 1.5 hours and only caught the one. The next one I caught was under the O'Brian bridge. Same size, and took about the same amount of time. I was using a large spinner. Also a good friend had the same experience to a T, but he was about a 1 km downstream of the magoos bridge. I was only looking to kill an hour or so and was happy with the results. This was very late last fall just before the end of the season. Give it a shot, it may cure your cravings!!

I put a carzy amount of time on the wapiti last summer about 20 hours i think, I caught a couple of small pike and one small wally. the pike by wapiti gardens and the wally, down stream of the canfor bridge. I am going to spend a little more time down there this summer. I am fly fishing mostly.

Better trout fishing if you go west on the Wapiti from the Gardens, need a boat to get to the good spots though. Good walleye and decent trout towards the Smokey too with holes in between.

Fly fishing on the Wapiti for walleye or Bull is extreamly difficult. The Bull, in my experience, like fast water that runs along slow or back eddie water. They often hang out on the edge of the fast water waiting for food so to get a fly into that zone can be a tricky task. With the walleye, you gotta get the lure to the bottom of the hole, also tricky with a fly. And if your going to start adding large amonts of wait to your fly you may as well switch to a spin cast. Like I said if your looking to fly fish for bull, the Murrey is amazing.

The narraway river is also a geat river for Bulls. A bit tricky getting to the river sometimes. There is a gate or two that may or may not be open, but there are ways around that. The access i an reffering to at about KM 115? on the two lakes road.

Hey Tatonka,
Put in the time and do some driving. Head out past Hudsons Hope and you wont be sorry. If you havent been out that way, the highway follows the river and there are many tribs that flow in creating some fantastic pools and eddies. I dont fly fish anymore, my elbow is buggered from fastball but Id be willing to float the boat down there with my lighweight gear.
Nobody around for miles out that way....the water is a nice clear blue colour which is more my thing.
