Humminbird vs Lowrance?  I've never had a decent fishfinder so all of my info has come from the web,  from what I gather Lowrance may have the edge but customer service is brutal?  Any thoughts?  I'm looking at a 798, 898 and 998.  If I cheap out with the 798 will I regret it in two weeks?

I really like the Matrix 47 Humminbird.

We had one up at the cottage in Ontario and it was fantastic for deeper water.

It gives you a 3d layout of the bottom which gives you a much better idea as to what humps are where around the boat.  Comes in handy when zipping around with the bowmount aswell.

I prefer bird.

Not really impressed with my cheap Lowrance. Spend the extra and be happier.

Since I'm not rolling in "Joe" money I ended up ordering the 798, I went with the cheaper one a) because I'm married and...well thats pretty much it;).

Now I just need to put it in....Then maybe get the new Lake Maps....Then move the 798 to the front and get a 998 for the back...Oh dear
