Have never fished for whitefish before, just looking for some good tips for catching these fish.  Anybody been out to snipe yet this year?  What's the fishing like out there?  How much ice?

Hey Hammy. I've been out to Snipe twice so far this year and have had no problem limiting out. Just go where you see other people's holes. A tent is indispensible, because you could have a tons of fish around but they are hard to catch if you can't see. I've found them to be feeding stronger in the morning, but if you annoy them enough, they will bite all day. Our best success was tag teaming with one guy jigging a spoon to bring them in and the other guy with a tiny wire worm to catch them (little jigs worked too.) That way we caught a couple of nice (10-12lb) pike on the spoon as well. You have to watch for those guys cause we saw more that one that was in the 15-20 lb range. There is lots of ice. I am going again tomorrow, so I will have a better idea then.

Awesome thanks Ben, what kind of spoon works the best?  Guessing something shiny.  Where you using any bait?  Also was there lots of ice does a guy need to take a sled with him or is it safe to take a truck out?  Last question, what end of the lake where you on?  Only ever been to the south end.  Thanks for all the help.

Went out today again and caught most of my fish on this http://www.williamsfishingspoons.com/jig-lures.aspx#_self. I like the white/orange Len Thompsons as well. The whities had an easier time sucking in the thinner spoons though. I didn't use bait, but mostly because I didn't have any. A wire work with a maggot works good though and we have had success with big smelt for big pike.

There was 8-10 inches of ice where we were fishing, but the problem right now is water on top of the ice (up 2-6 inches of it) with a thin layer of false ice on top. Makes it a little sketchy to drive on. I was glad we brought the sled today because our usual access was blocked off, so we had to blaze across the slush a couple km. We were on the east side of the lake. If you plan on going out, shoot me an inbox message and I can tell you where exactly to go. Or better yet, if you want company, I will just show you.

The natural beauty of a freshly polished concrete floor is unbeatable.Any retail or commecial concrete floor can be diamond ground and polished to resemble natural stone like appearance. The concrete floor can also be sealed with an epoxy floor sealer after grinding concrete. Has anyone have ideas on what is better epoxy floor coatings or  concrete staining. Your opinion is appreciated. Thanx.
